As a prime contractor, the Summit team managed the operations of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Information Assurance Support Environment (IASE) Web Portal on the NIPRNet and SIPRNet. Support included collaboration with customers within the Department of Defense (DoD) Community as well as external partners outside of the DoD Community. Moreover, the team provided internal management of content for accuracy and currency, Section 508 compliance, appropriate classification markings, DoD policy compliance and spillage issues, in order to protect information assurance (IA) information at multiple levels of classification.

Summit migrated the IASE to a commercial cloud providers at Impact Level 1-2 (public site) and the For Official Use Only (FOUO) portal to a cloud provider at Impact Levels 3-5. As DoD’s first accredited .MIL site migrated to the commercial cloud, Summit developed lessons learned in quickly and securely migrating systems to Amazon Web Services (AWS). We maintain lessons learned in configuring and securing a high availabilty system within AWS Gov and Commercial cloud and leveraging AWS tools such as EC2, S3, VPC and ELB.
As one of the DoD CIO’s five cloud pilot projects, Summit successfully migrated the DISA IASE websites to a commercial cloud provider at Impact Levels 3-5 in 2014. DISA’s leadership recognized Summits innovative solutions and technical skills, which led to a > 40% cost savings annually to DISA.
